The Chagall Walk Through Design
For the Chagall unit, the Moldaw floor plans page provides a virtual 3D tour through a typical Chagall unit. This is an elegant app that shows each of the spaces in a manner that allows moving forward or back and rotating in all 360 degrees. Further, if the ruler option is turned on then in certain locations measurements of the spacial dimensions will overlay the room images. This is beautiful.
However, if you find some dimensional information that you wish to save you have two options: write the information on a scrap of paper or do some kind of screen snapshot that leads to a file with an almost meaningless file name.
This walk through accomplishes the following:
- Uses screen capture to collect a key set of images within the unit at assorted locations and facing in assorted directions.
- Names each image with its room location (or patio) and numbers the images consecutively within each location.
- Systematically covers all rooms and the patio:
- Kitchen
- Living Room
- Bedroom
- Bedroom Bath
- Den
- Den Bath
- Patio
- Organizes the images for each location (room or patio) in a section of the page so that the viewer may:
- expand to view all images in the location via a click of the expand icon
- collapse to hide all images in the location via a click of the collapse icon
- expand to view all images in the location via a click of the expand icon
- Makes it possible to expand or collapse all images at once via buttons that are provided at the top of the walk through.
The advantage of the design of the walk through is that a viewer may see many images quickly and then slow down to gather detailed information from particular images at a reasonable pace.
Technical Aspects
- The web page design of this page restricts the width of text and images displayed to 920 pixels.
- The actual image dimensions of each image created by screen capture are 3456 pixels by 2234 pixels.
- To enable a viewer to see the full details of an image, the following action is provided:
- If the viewer clicks on the image, the image will be displayed in a separate window at the largest size possible on the device.
- Further, in this separate window, the viewer may zoom to the enlarge the image and move around to examine details of interest. This provides the viewer with great control.
